We have waited a long time for this. I know many who are more excited about iOS5 then they are about the iPhone 4S (I know I am). Last night I downloaded iTunes 10.5 in anticipation of installing the new iOS version, which I am currently downloading now.
It has been about an hour and it looks like it is going to take two to three more hours if the remaining time is correct, though I would be a fool if I did not expect such a wait time. On a side note, many folks are getting an “error 3200″ when trying to download the software, which seems to be a result of the overloaded servers.
To kill the time I thought I would check out some of the various guides I found to get iOS 5 setup.
Gizmodo has this great article, The Complete Guide to Updating to iOS 5. They go over what you need to do before you upgrade to iOS 5 and how to get things like iCloud and other iOS features setup.
Lifehacker has several guides that are very useful:
How to Set Up Wi-Fi Sync in iOS 5
How to Configure iOS 5 Notification Center
Everything You Need to Know About iOS 5 in Seven Minutes
There you go, some great reading while you wait for iOS 5 to be installed. Have fun.
