Apple rejects Samsung’s settlement offer in Australia

Apple and Samsung will continue to battle in Australia, as Apple has rejected Samsung’s settlement offer down under.

Late last week, Samsung reportedly made an offer to Apple that would end the companies’ legal dispute in Australia. Reuters reports that Apple has rejected the deal. If accepted, the arrangement would have allowed Samsung to being selling the Galaxy Tab 10.0 down under as early as next week. Unfortunately for Samsung, that’s not going to happen for now.

While talking with reporters, Apple attorney Steven Burley was short and sweet: “It is one we don’t accept and there is no surprise.”

Sorry, Aussies. No Galaxy Tab 10.0 for you just yet. And if another story pans out, you may never get your Galaxy Tab. Bloomberg Businessweek reports that Samsung may cancel the release of the Galaxy Tab 10.0 in Australia unless it is given approval to sell the new tablet within the next two weeks.

Samsung’s lawyer, Neil Young, noted that the company is going to abandon its plans to launch the product if not given immediate approval, since missing the critical Christmas buying season would “result in the new tablet being ‘dead’.”
