Open Mic: Do You Sing?

Over the next few open mics we’ll be exploring your involvement in music production and performance. Hopefully we’ll hear a few good stories along the way! Here’s this week’s question: Do you do sing?

Each week we open our mic to readers and lurkers alike to come out of the woodwork and tell us your thoughts and opinion, your experiences and mistakes, what you love and what you hate. We want to hear from you, and here’s your chance.

I guess that everyone sings at some time – unless they are physically unable to. Maybe you only sing in the shower or car (alone), or when someone lights the birthday candles. But feel free to prove me wrong. If your life policy is to never sing, let us know in the comments. And please tell us why!

Do you sing on your own projects, or other people’s? Do you sing backing vocals or lead? Do you have any tips to share with us about how to achieve a great performance or a good sound?

Do you sing publicly? At a concert, on a street corner, or on stage at the Superbowl?

Do you sing for pleasure? Do you sing along to your favorite albums, or accompany yourself with an instrument? Do you sing alone with others? Where and when do you sing? Are you embarrassed if others hear you?

Singing is the most natural way of making music. I’d be interested to hear what part it plays in your life.
