We are looking to develop several online tools for college bound parents and students who will be going to college. Goals of these tools to give the students informative data to make choosing and paying for college and easy process. We would like to make these tools into an e-commerce membership site, either pay per use per month or pay per use per report/search.
This project will require web development and integration, web design, crawling/scrapping of data.
Some of our tools have been already developed, however we are looking to make them better and update them with new data and the look.
Here are some of the tools we would like to create/develop and sell as a membership package or per use for each search or report:
http://www.collegeview.com/collegesearch/index.jsp – create a college search similar to this one where students can select their colleges by criteria’s, major, sports, region, city etc….. and the results will show them the best fit college to apply to.

Need a calculator similar to the above links. That will calculates students EFC costs. Will provide formulas, need coder to integrate the formulas into the dynamic calculations so it will give out the results dollar amount.
https://www.collegedata.com/cs/search/scholar/scholar_search_tmpl.jhtml – Scholarship finder that allows students to search for available scholarships and awards. Need a search tool similar to that one so users can search and find out if they are eligible.
College Search – similar to http://campustours.com/searchList/details-shane.aspx?id=186380 form should be similar to the one on the main site that will allow users to type in the colleges and the form will give “suggestions” of colleges based on the letters they are typing. Will need data to be scraped and have similar content/layout for each school along with Tour Links like they have which will forward the users to colleges maps, tours, website etc.
Plus we 2 -3 more tools that were already developed in php/aspx that we would like to integrate into the e-commerce / membership sites.
The site will also have two areas:
a) Members are where users have paid to access all of the premium searches/reports to use all of our tools without any limitations
b) Front end area where visitors can do searches for each of the tools above but not all results will be shown. So when visitors do searches for each of the tools they will show “teaser” sample results where not all of the data will be shown, but will have “register” links so when visitors buy their membership or reports they can log in to their accounts and do all of the searches.
Will need admin control panel to view all members, add/edit/remove users.
Will need user control panel to allow member to perform searches for the tools above, edit their profile settings like name, change password, edit email address, forgot password etc…
Also required is to have member registration after successful transactions to paid members area. We are still deciding on the payment gateway either to use Authorize.net or another payment system.
