Reuters reports that a U.S. court dropped the Motorola Mobility patent lawsuit against Apple, which was scheduled to start today.
FOSS Patents goes into more detail, saying that the trial was dropped with prejudice. That means the only way Apple can act on the case again is through an appeal and not through refiling. On Oct. 31, Apple reportedly offered Motorola up to $1 per iPhone to license the company’s wireless patents. The judge in the case apparently had a negative reaction to the offer and felt that the case could be settled out of court.
This is the second Apple case against Motorola to be dismissed this year. Like with this case, the one dismissed in Chicago was dismissed with prejudice.
