In this tutorial, we’re going to be looking at the title animation style from the movie “The Colony”. We will make this unusual title style using only After Effects. First, we will look at a classic technique to obtain a smoke animation using Fractal Noise. Second, we’ll apply a series of masks around the logo to create an interesting halo of smoke. The actual example “The Colony” title is being used just for training purposes and is not to be used in a personal project, without permission from the original creators.
