We are using a mix of Storyboards and XIB, because we are dealing with complex UI without even have a single of hardcoded controls such as Textfields, buttons, etc.
If someone said, Storyboard is a current trend, Yes it is, but abuse usage of storyboards may lead to XCode crashes and it takes time to load. We use the Storyboard as a View Controller, while the content were placed inside the xib and our main reason for that is to edit a view UI/UX without even loading all the Views inside the Storyboard.
